HOW TO MAKE WATER KEFIR AND COCONUT WATER KEFIR

lemonade

The production of health promoting, refreshing and delicious drinks is nearly universal in ethnic cuisines but this practice has been largely forgotten with the rise of factory produced sodas that have no redeeming nutritional benefit and only encourage obesity and other chronic ailments.

Soda can be healthy. Learning traditional preparation techniques is all that is required to leave the belly happy and healthy with a fizzy drink on a hot summer afternoon!

In this hands on class, we will learn how to make some delicious fermented Water Kefir and Coconut Water Kefir. While we are having fun preparing these beverages, we will also learn why these fermented drinks are healing to YOUR GUT and support YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

YOU will take home a generous 1/4 cup of water kefir grains ($20 VALUE), informational handouts, recipes and the experience of meeting other fun people like you, priceless!

Curtido – A Salvadorian Traditional Fermented Food

curtido

Eating a diet rich in fermented foods is important for optimal health. This ancient traditional technique is becoming new again. While our generation has forgotten about fermentation practices, in the last few years these foods are coming back! In addition, there have been Scientific studies proving that active bacterial cultures from fermented foods and drinks, such as kraut, kimchi, miso, kefir, yogurt, kombucha, and chutneys are good for our health.

Would you like to learn more about fermented foods and simple techniques that would help you start fermenting your own vegetables at home? It sounds intimidating, doesn’t it? At least until you’ve made it once. Then you realize how easy it is and wonder why you never did it before!

Come and learn how to make Curtido, one of my country’s most delicious staple foods. Curtido is our traditional version of sauerkraut with cabbage, carrots, onions, oregano and other species. Sides of curtido are served with most meals.

While making Curtido, you will learn why it so important to incorporate fermented foods into our daily diet and the benefits they have on our health.

Also, I will show you how to make fermented red onions and garlic.

Join me for this basic fermentation class. YOU will take home Curtido, informational handouts, recipes and the experience of meeting other fun people like you, priceless!
