Gary Taubes is an American science writer, the New York Times best seller of “ Good Calories, Bad Calories “ and the winner of the Science in Society Award. On Tuesday February 8th at 7:00 pm he will be presenting his new book “Why We Get Fat “at Elliott Bay Book Company.
Taubes examines what makes us fat and reveals the bad nutritional science of the last century—none more damaging than the “calories-in, calories-out” model of why we get fat—and the good science that has been ignored, especially regarding insulin’s regulation of our fat tissue. He also answers key questions: Why are some people thin and others fat? What roles do exercise and genetics play in our weight? What foods should we eat or avoid?
Please join me if you have the opportunity to attend. For those of you that are not able, I will post a summary of the event.
The Elliott Bay Book Company is located at 1521 Tenth Avenue, on Capitol Hill.
